Samatha (Concentration) & Vipassana (Insight) Meditation non-residential Retreat

Metta Centre is honoured to again be hosting Venerable SayalayDipankara (aka Daw Dipankara Theri) during her Sydney teaching tour. This non-residential retreat will feature Dhamma talks and meditation instructions from Sayalay Dipankara, with practitioners encouraged to meditate and deepen their practice most of the time. Sayalay Dipankara will be teaching about Samatha (Concentration) & Vipassana (Insight) meditation. To make the most of the retreat, attendees are encouraged to attend all three days, and to be able to meditate on their own based on Sayalay’s instructions. Whilst there will be no private interviews, there will be a Q&A session on Monday.
The retreat will occur in the spacious Western Sydney University, Bankstown City campus, who is our major sponsor for this event. Participants can also join online if they are unable to attend in person (dial in details below).
Program:
Saturday 5 October: 8.30am for 9am start to 5pm
Sunday 6 October: 8.30am for 9am start to 5pm
Monday 7 October: 8.30am for 9am start to 3pm
The retreat is free, but registration is essential for in-person attendance as there are limited spaces available. When ordering your tickets, please ensure you select the day/s you are attending, and whether attending in-person or online only. Please cancel your ticket if you are no longer able to attend to allow others to take your spot.
What to bring: Please bring your own food, beverages and drink bottles. Drinking water is available from the tap. Auditorium seating is chairs, so if you wish to practice sitting on the ground then please bring your own cushion. About the Teacher: With more than two decades of Dhamma propagation all over the world, Venerable Sayalay Dīpaṅkara is internationally renowned as one of the most eminent meditation masters of our time. Her Dhamma teachings are highly sought after around the world. On 20th March 2019, the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture (Myanmar) and the Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar conferred upon her the honorary title of “Great Meditation Master” in recognition of her extensive Dhamma propagation work around the world. On 4th January 2021, the President of the Republic of Myanmar conferred her with another highly distinguished title: "Great Expounder of the True Dhamma (Mahā Saddhamma Jotikadhaja)."
