Tea Ceremony & Meditation
Teachers: Ki-Hoo Sunim and Seol-Woo Sunim
Date: 21 June 2025
Time: 10am-12:30pm
Location: Jongbopsa Korean Buddhist Temple
Cost: By donation
Join us for a serene morning of meditation, Dharma, and tea, inside a Korean Buddhist Temple.
Zen Master, Ki-Hoo Sunim will offer guided meditation, followed by a short Dharma talk exploring the principles of mindfulness, meditation and the way of tea in the Korean Zen Buddhist tradition.
Seol-Woo Sunim will then lead a traditional Korean Buddhist tea ceremony "Darye" – a contemplative ritual integrating the spirit of Seon (Korean Zen) with the simplicity of tea preparation and sharing. You will be invited to a cup of tea, to cultivate presence, gratitude, and insight.
The tea offered during this special event is sourced from centuries old ancient tea trees —carrying cha qi rooted from the spirit of the land and wisdom of many generations. Now energised with Cha Qi you will enter your final guided meditation with Seol-Woo Sunim to harmonise the mind and body with the Qi of the tea.
At the close of the session, guests will be offered a rare opportunity to taste teas from ancient teas from around the world. These precious teas are sourced directly by Bhava Cha from the misty mountains of Vietnam, the remote highlands of Laos, and the birthplace of tea in China.
All are welcome. No prior experience with meditation or tea ceremony is needed. Guests will also have the opportunity to purchase these rare teas to continue their practice at home.
Spots are limited so bookings are essential.
All donations support the Metta Centre and Jongbopsa Korean Buddhist Temple. 10% of all tea sales during the event will also be kindly donated by Bhava Cha to the Metta Centre and Jongbopsa Temple.
