Keep Calm and ask a (novice) Monk
Metta Centre is honoured to host a number of international speakers. As part of these series, we have invited Venerable Rakkhita Samenera to speak about his inspiring humanitarian work in the Philippines and to lead a session on “Ask a (novice) monk”. Bring along any questions you have, such as questions about Buddhism, or how to apply Buddhism to understanding and dealing with life’s challenges. Questions may be addressed to Venerable directly or anonymously via paper supplied at the session.
About the speaker: Bhante Ven Rakkhita Samanera is a Buddhist monk, born in the UK and resides in the Philippines to look after the welfare of the local people in his village. He uses innovative, therapeutic and educational uses of the Buddhist teachings to provide compassionate relief of avoidable suffering. He teaches 120 Filipino teenagers Buddhism in a Buddhist Junior High School, and previously when living in the village he would go on daily arms round with his begging bowl, take photos of the sick, uploads to Facebook with a call out for diagnosis and donations, so as to help the poor and needy.
